Weeknotes 4th September
I both simultaneously enjoy and don't enjoy working in Cabinet Office. I feel both more connected to things and less connected. It’s all very odd and I am very odd.
One of the ways I’ve overcome that feeling is to dive straight into the Team Mailbox — though last week we had quite a few replies and this week it keeps slipping down on my priority list which is not great. I’ve just added clear team mailbox to my list for next week.
I suddenly have a list and postit’s — I need to rationalise, now I’m not sure if I should put that on my list or a PostIt.
On Monday I read this
And I put if forward as a possible thing to be suggested for the pre reading for the Civil Service Leadership Group. I like it in many ways but in one big way it also really bugs me… it is a great package of well considered thought and much of it chimes but ultimately it’s a sales pitch and that really ruins it. That said I’m biased: I’m a salaried employee and a Civil Servant to boot so I’m much less inclined to branding things.
On Tuesday I was up early (for me) to change the text on the sight as the call for views has closed, we had over 14,000 responses which is utterly fantastic so if you are reading this and you filled it out then thank you very much. I also started to watch the ‘Trauma and the Role of Healing in Systems Change with Dr. Hasshan Batts (August, 2020)’

I must confess by the end of the week I’m only 17mins in — but keen to get back to it — that tab is still open. I never new ubuntu meant ‘I am because we are, because we are I am’ I really like that.
We have a new Cabinet Secretary in waiting and all the cats are fine, which is good to know.
I had a chat/interview with Seth and Abby which was an interesting. Seth observed that my approach to Organisational Development and Design is a people centered one. I look forward to seeing the outcome of their research.
I think at some level I am trying to ignore the fact that James Arthur Cattell only has two weeks left in the Civil Service Reform Team.
