I finished sitting behind the computer just before 3pm today and headed of to pick Eloise up from School. We came home, read and then made cakes it was all rather lovely. Eloise made her cake without a recipe and the lesson here is that Eloise is actually a really good cook and doesn’t need one. Much to my surprise.
It has been, a week of highs and lows. On Monday I got so ecstatically happy after getting the team mailbox down to just a few emails for others to pick up. I danced round the kitchen and punched the air, when I sat down the eldest dog came over to see if I was ok. He did it again on Friday when I kept cussing, swearing and hitting the table – mainly brought on by my brain trying to copy and paste with the ctrl key and not the command key resulting in me keep having to do things again.
By Monday evening the elation had worn off and I was quite perturbed by the state of things. I started thinking about where I might like to work, I saw a job in many ways it looked right up my street though I feel it would be a stretch so many things about it made me excited and sure enough by Wednesday I had submitted my first job application out side of the Civil Service in 20 years.
On Tuesday Nour Sidawi sent out a great email kicking of ideas from the Reform Champions on a Reform Hack. And Ive just remembered that I have not sent out the invite for the organising hack’ers next week – oh well first thing Monday.
Thursday was just one of those days when there was a lot of meetings/meetups obvs all online. Lots of scribbles and notes from all of them. Its funny I’d love to say some of what Alex Chisholm said at Civil Service Leadership Group and apply some thinking to it, but I’m aware of discussions and indeed what might become a thing so I really can’t.
Today I brought the Reform Champions slide pack up to date, which was overdue and highly absorbing to such so I missed the start of my only chat by 10min, thankfully we still got to have it.
